A five-year-old boy has died after being hit by a vehicle in Mississauga early Tuesday evening.
Police say the child was on his bike with his father when they were attempting to cross the road near Hurontario and Elm Drive around 5:30 p.m.
The child was then struck by a red truck that was northbound, and dragged for a “short distance,” police say.
The child was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, and succumbed to their injuries.
Police say the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Road closures are in place, seeing Hurontario Street closed between Burnhamthorpe Road and Central Parkway Drive.
The Major Collision Bureau is investigating. Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
