Man stabbed while trying to fend off bike thief in Brampton

A man in his 50s is in hospital after he was stabbed while trying to fend off a bike thief in Brampton.

Peel police say they were called to the parking lot of a plaza near Eastbourne and Balmoral drives, west of Torbram Road, around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say a man was attempting to grab bicycles from two teen girls on Balmoral when the victim ran over to intervene.

The victim was stabbed multiple times but he is expected to recover.

Police say an adult male was arrested.
