Police investigating after woman found injured on Hwy. 404 near Newmarket

Provincial police are investigating after a woman was found injured on Highway 404 near Newmarket.

Police say they are looking for witnesses after a woman reportedly left a vehicle around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.

York paramedics confirmed to 680 NEWS that they treated a woman who was picked up from the southbound lanes.

She was taken to a trauma centre, but her condition and the nature of her injuries are unknown.

No further details have been made available.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours from the Davis Drive exit to the Wellington Street exit but have since reopened.
