Ontario is once again expanding who will be eligible to book an accelerated second dose appointment for an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.

As of Wednesday, June 23, people in Delta variant hotspot regions who received their first dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines on or before May 30 will be eligible to book an accelerated second dose appointment.

The regions deemed Delta hotpots are Halton, Peel, Porcupine, Toronto, Waterloo, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, as well as newly identified hotspots, Hamilton, Simcoe-Muskoka and Durham.

Ontario said on Wednesday it had administered a record high of 202,984 vaccine doses since its last daily report.

More than 11.7 million doses of vaccine have been given out in the province so far.

Eligibility was first accelerated for a second dose on Monday in the seven hot spots where the Delta variant is spreading. People in those regions who got their first dose on May 9 or earlier could book a second shot starting Monday.

All adults in the province who got their first dose on or after May 10 can book an earlier second shot starting the week of June 28.
