Ontario is reporting 340 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday with two new deaths.

Of the new cases, provincial data shows 223 were in people unvaccinated, 12 were partially vaccinated people and 117 were fully vaccinated people. The province adds 44 people with unknown vaccination statuses.

There are 373 resolved cases. The case numbers are based on 25,707 completed tests.

Of the 340 new infections, 58 are being reported out of Toronto, there are 26 new cases in Peel Region, 22 in York Region and six additional cases in Hamilton.

Ontario’s current effective reproduction number R(t)  – which corresponds to the average number of additional infections caused by one infection – is at 0.91 as of Sunday. An R(t) of greater than 1 indicates exponential growth.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 104 people are hospitalized with the virus and 133 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. There are currently unvaccinated patients in ICU and 13 are fully vaccinated.

The province says 88 per cent of residents aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 84 per cent have received both shots.

There are more than 11 million people fully immunized with two shots.
