Woman seriously injured after being struck by impaired driver in Etobicoke

A female pedestrian has been rushed to a trauma centre after she was struck by an impaired driver late in Etobicoke on Wednesday night.
Investigators received reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle near Renforth Drive and Wareside Road just before 10:30 p.m., adding that the driver initially fled the scene after striking the woman and damaging several other cars and trees in the area.
Officers eventually located the individual, who is now in custody for driving impaired.
Toronto paramedics tell CityNews that a woman in her mid-40s has been transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic services have taken over the investigation.
