Oshawa man charged in historical sex assaults on girls in Toronto

A 70-year-old man is facing charges in connection to more than a dozen sexual assaults that allegedly took place in Scarborough, dating back to the 1990s.

Toronto police say between 1994 and 1996, the suspect befriended young girls and teens in his social circle, and that’s when it’s alleged the sexual assaults occurred.

The girls were between the ages of nine and 14.

Police arrested Arasakumar Saveremuthu — who lives in Oshawa — on Oct. 28 on six counts of Sexual Assault, five counts of Sexual Interference and two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching.

He made his first court appearance in late October.

Investigators are concerned there may be other victims.
