Health officials warning of COVID exposure at funeral and religious event in Peel

Peel Public Health officials are advising anyone who attended a Brampton religious ceremony and a funeral in Mississauga last weekend about a potential exposure to COVID-19.

Officials say anyone who was at the Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar located at 9954 The Gore Road on Saturday, November 13 should “seek immediate PCR testing.”

“All guests should get tested immediately and self-isolate while awaiting results, regardless of vaccination status,” health officials said in a statement. “Individuals who refuse testing must self-isolate for 20 days.”

Officials are also warning about a COVID-19 exposure at a funeral that took place at New Life Covenant Centre on Bramalea Road in Mississauga on the same day.

The same self-isolation and testing measures are required, as well, officials say anyone that initially tested with a Rapid Antigen Test or other point of care test, be re-tested with a PCR test.

Residents are asked to give the following outbreak number when going to get tested for both events: 2253-2021-50639

Health officials did not indicate how many coronavirus cases have been confirmed to date at either event.
