GO Train service resumes on Lakeshore East line

GO Train service has resumed on the Lakeshore East line after service was disrupted for more than a week due to a fatality.

“All of the repair work has been finished following the fatal workplace incident near Pickering GO Station,” Metrolinx said in a statement. “GO Transit will be running hourly service on the Lakeshore East Line, however there may be some delays and cancellations.”

A 41-year-old man was killed after being pinned under a rail car conducting construction and maintenance work last weekend at the 117-year-old Rouge Hill bridge in Pickering.

Metrolinx is also advising customers that there is no GO Train service to Niagra on the Lakeshore West line on Sunday due to staff shortages. Buses will connect Niagara and St. Catharines customers to regular service along the line.
