Officers arrested a 20-year-old man after allegedly trying to access a Toronto Police station with weapons, including Molotov cocktails and knives.

Investigators say the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday when the man attempted to enter the station but was unable to due to COVID-19 measures.

It’s alleged the man then approached an officer stationed in their vehicle and said he was wanted by police and was turning himself in. He also claimed he was armed with a firearm.

He was eventually detained, and a search revealed he was carrying a starter pistol and knife in his jacket pockets. Police arrested the man, who also had a Molotov cocktail and uncovered knives in his possession.

Police say 20-year-old Edward Zilberman of Toronto was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and one count of mischief, among other offences.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 3, 2022, in Toronto.

No injuries were reported, and police say this remains an active investigation.
