Eight people are hurt, two critically, after a two-vehicle crash in downtown Toronto on Sunday afternoon.
Const. Laura Brabant says the crash happened at Yonge and Richmond streets at about 2 p.m. on Sunday when one vehicle cut into another car’s lane.
Police say a silver Kia operated by a 22-year-old man was travelling westbound in the left lane when he collided with the driver of a white Hyundai. The 22-year-old driver flipped over and was pushed off the roadway, causing his vehicle to strike pedestrians.
Two pedestrians were reported to be seriously injured after the crash, and paramedics rushed them to a hospital with police escorts.
A Toronto Paramedics spokesperson told CityNews eight people were transported to hospitals. Police later updated that two of the eight, including one child, are in life-threatening condition.
Meanwhile, Toronto firefighters were called in to extricate one of the drivers from their vehicle.
Police ask residents, businesses and drivers, who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident, to contact them.
