2 boys shooting paintballs at pedestrians charged with assault

Two boys from Halton region are facing assault charges for shooting pedestrians with paintballs in Acton on Saturday night.

Police were called to the Acton Arena in the Queen Street East and Tanners Drive area around 9:30 p.m. for reports that people in a vehicle were firing paintballs at those on the street.

The vehicle left the area but returned shortly after and the two suspects inside began shooting paintballs again, targeting people on foot. Two people were injured after being hit by paintballs.

Police were able to find the vehicle and arrested a 15-year-old boy from Georgetown and a 16-year-old boy from Halton Hills.

They are both charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both were released on undertaking.

Two paintball guns and other related equipment plus numerous paintballs were seized by officers.
