Passing citizen discovers human remains near body of water in Uxbridge

Durham Regional Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in Uxbridge.

Officers responded to the area of Uxbridge Concession Road 6 around 3 p.m. on Tuesday after a citizen noticed what appeared to be human remains in a small body of water in a rural area.

In a news release, a spokesperson with Durham police said forensic investigators will assist and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine more details about the deceased individual.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Investigators have yet to rule the discovery as suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
