Apartment fire in Scarborough leaves one person dead Saturday morning

Toronto police say one person has died after an apartment fire Saturday morning in Scarborough.
Crews responded to reports of thick smoke coming out from the eighth floor at a high-rise building, 1420 Victoria Park, in the area of Victoria Park and O’Connor Drive around 8 a.m.
After forced entry, crews found heavy smoke and flames.
One person was found without vital signs and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. No further details about the victim have been released.
There’s no word if anyone else was injured from the fire, which has since been knocked down.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate what sparked the fire. Toronto fire investigators and police are expected to be on site throughout the day.
