Cost of gas in Ontario to dip on Friday to cheapest price in 2 weeks

Gas prices remain over $2/L but we're expected to see a slight dip at the pumps Friday.

The daily fluctuation in gas prices will continue across Ontario pumps, but the good news is that the upcoming dip will reach the lowest price in weeks.

Roger McKnight, Chief Petroleum Analyst with En-Pro Intl., is expecting a three-cent drop at most gas stations at midnight on Friday to 203.9 cents a litre.

The last time gas prices were that low was on June 1, when it cost 202.9 cents to fill up. The price increased a day later at most GTA gas stations to 203.9 cents a litre.

That same week, the price at the pumps increased three cents on June 4, rising to a record-high 211.9 cents a litre. The cost jumped again that Sunday, rising to 214.9 on June 5.

The average gas price in Toronto throughout May was $2.069/litre — a stark comparison to the average in 2021, when the price was $1.307/litre.

The moral of the story is to fill up when you can. Who knows what the next day will bring.
