15-year-old girl arrested for threats that locked down Toronto prep school

Toronto police say a 15-year-old girl was arrested and charged after she made threats leading to a Toronto prep school being locked down last week.

On June 13, Branksome Hall, located in the Elm Avenue and Mount Pleasant Road area in Rosedale, was placed under lockdown after officers were informed of a concerning email and phone call.

A spokesperson for the school later confirmed the lockdown had been lifted after police determined that there was no immediate threat to students and staff.

Police said that unfounded threats were made, and no one was injured.

On Monday, officers arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection to the incident. She’s facing multiple charges, including threatening death, public mischief and conveying a false message with the intent to alarm.

The girl was not identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). She’ll appear in a Toronto court on August 15.

Branksome Hall teaches students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
