Honda Indy returns to Toronto, shuts down stretch of Lake Shore

The Honda Indy festival returns to Toronto’s Lake Shore this weekend for the first time in three years, and road closures for the city’s celebration of speed are already in effect.

In addition to roads in and around Exhibition Place, Lake Shore Boulevard is now closed between Strachan Avenue and British Columbia Road until 1 a.m. on Monday. The southbound lanes of Strachan between Fleet Street and Lake Shore are also shut down until midnight on Sunday.

It is the first time the Honda Indy has been back in the city since 2019, after missing the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival kicks off with ‘Fan Friday!,’ with the big Indy race running on Sunday. ‘Fan Friday’ is a non-ticketed event and seating will be based on a first come first serve basis.

Tickets for races on Saturday and Sunday are available here.

Toronto Public Health hosting pop-up vaccine clinic during Honda Indy

Toronto Public Health (TPH) continues to roll out pop-up vaccine clinics at various festivals across the city in July.

TPH will be hosting a clinic at Exhibition Place during the Honda Indy. The clinic will run Friday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The clinic will be offering first, second, third, fourth and children’s doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible residents. No appointments are required and a health card is not needed.

The province announced Wednesday it was expanding fourth dose eligibility to all adults, beginning on Thursday. Every adult over the age of 18 can book a new vaccine appointment through Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccination portal at 8 a.m. on July 14.
