Boy, 4, dies after accident involving golf cart in Peterborough

A four-year-old boy has died in hospital after an accident involving a golf cart in Peterborough.

Peterborough County OPP received reports of a golf cart rollover on Villiers Line in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan on Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

Investigators say a golf cart carrying six people crashed near Bellmere Winds Golf Course in Keene, Ont. near Rice Lake.

A young boy was airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. An adult woman suffered minor injuries in the rollover. No one else was hurt.

In an update from OPP Central Region, authorities said the four-year-old boy died in hospital on Tuesday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
