Front Street reopens after ‘significant’ gas leak at construction site

Toronto police say a “significant” gas leak at a construction site at Front Street West and Spadina Avenue briefly forced the closure of Front Street on Thursday.

Police say a gas main was cut at around 11:37 a.m.

Fire crews arrived on scene but were unable to cap it.

The site was evacuated and police closed Front Street in both directions to vehicles and pedestrians.

An Enbridge crew has been called and Front Street has since reopened.
