Man struck by vehicle at Sunnybrook Hospital was ‘very lucky’: police

It’s not often a person seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle is considered “lucky.” But police say an elderly man was in the right place at the wrong time when he was struck in the parking lot of Sunnybrook Hospital on Friday afternoon.

With many healthcare workers in the vicinity, the man received prompt treatment.

“This pedestrian is very lucky to be in the location that they were in, when this occurred,” police said. “There were luckily several healthcare workers on scene who provided first aid to the pedestrian.”

The man was struck just after 12:00 p.m.

His condition was initially described as life-threatening, but has since been upgraded to non life-threatening.

The driver remained on scene and an investigation is ongoing.
