‘Our hands are tied’: Toronto Afro-Caribbean Festival scheduled this weekend cancelled

A music festival scheduled for this weekend at Downsview Park has thrown in the towel.

Kaboom Festival, which referred to itself as “Canada’s BIGGEST Afro-Caribbean Music Festival,” featuring several artists for a two-day event, announced the cancellation on its social media page Tuesday night.

Referencing the debacle shared across social media by attendees of last weekend’s Kingston Festival and Kultureland Festival, the organizers of this Saturday and Sunday’s anticipated event informed followers that they had no choice but to reschedule for next year.

“In the last few days, the city has gone through a lot of stress and turmoil,” they wrote in a statement.

“Patrons who live in the city and those who travelled from various destinations were disappointed by the quality of the events that put countless people at risk.”

They did not confirm precisely why the event had to be cancelled but alluded to the fact they had no other option.

“Although we were not associated with these past weekend events and after conversations with city officials, TPS, and venue operations, OUR HANDS OUR TIED!!” confirming refunds would be issued.

On Sunday, Kaboom Festival organizers informed followers that various scheduled artists would not be attending due to visa and logistical issues.

The following day they worked towards reassuring ticket buyers that refunds would be processed if requested.
