REO Speedwagon band member offers family free concert tickets after Toronto bike rental issues

A good deed goes a long way.

Kevin Cronin, band member of rock band REO Speedwagon — currently on tour and set to perform in Toronto on Tuesday — shared details of a family’s act of kindness after failing to rent a public bike in the city.

“Hi friends, while I was attempting (unsuccessfully) to rent a bicycle from a kiosk here in Toronto [Monday] afternoon, a super-friendly family went out of their way and offered me one of their rental bikes,” Cronin wrote on the band’s social media platforms.

“They refused to take no for an answer, nor would they accept any token of my appreciation… including free concert tickets for Tuesday night at the Budweiser Stage. They didn’t recognize me and had no selfish motives… they were simply being nice.”

Cronin said he and the band were moved by the family’s unselfish behaviour and noted how acts and kindness often go a long way.

“We all need a reaffirmation of the intrinsic kindness in human nature, and I got my daily reminder [Monday] in Toronto,” Cronin added.

REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million records and has a dozen top 40 hits, including “Keep On Loving You” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling.”

The band will perform alongside Styx and Loverboy at 6:45 p.m. at Budweiser Stage.
