A Mississauga man has been arrested on fraud charges relating to an alleged contractor scam that cost clients over $1 million combined, spanning over two years.

Peel police say the alleged scam targeted residents across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

On Monday, authorities said the ongoing investigation “culminated” after several people accused the same man of defrauding them.

Police allege that 58-year-old Milentje Djordjevic of Mississauga claimed to be a contractor promising to take on and complete home renovations and various services once hired.

Authorities said Djordjevic was paid deposits and used sub-contractors.

Investigators confirmed that several victims came forward alleging that the services never started.

Police arrested Djordjevic on Monday. He was charged with defrauding the public and four counts of fraud over $500,00.

He will appear at a Brampton courthouse at a later date, police said.

In a news release, a Peel police spokesperson urged members of the public to “consider not prepaying for products or services when dealing with unknown or unproven individuals.”
