Victims identified as man charged with second degree murder in North York stabbing

A reported stabbing inside a vehicle took place at Bathurst and Ellerslie Avenue, near Finch. Details remain sparse as police investigate and attempt to contact next of kin.

A 20-year-old Seneca College student is among the two women killed on a North York street on Friday afternoon.

Police confirmed Sunday that 44-year-old Elvie Sig-Od and 20-year-old Angelica Sig-Od were stabbed to death at around 3:30 p.m. on August 26 in the Bathurst Street and Ellerslie Avenue area.

Investigators say an altercation between a man and two women resulted in both women being stabbed. The pair were later pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken into custody.

“The Seneca community is deeply saddened by the sudden death of Angelica Sig-Od, a student in the Flight Services – Operations & Cabin Management program,” a spokesperson confirmed to CityNews. “Our thoughts are with Ms. Sig-Od’s loved ones, friends and Seneca classmates and professors.”

Godfrey Sig-Od, 46, of Toronto has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Police say all three were known to each other but did no specify the relationship between them.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
