Bo knows homers. Bichette’s 3-HR game powers Blue Jays against Orioles

The talented shortstop stayed hot at the plate and hit three home runs in the second game of a doubleheader on Monday, powering the Toronto Blue Jays to two significant wins against the Baltimore Orioles.
Bichette had three hits and two RBIs as Toronto won game one 7-3. The 24-year-old continued to mash in the second game, slugging three home runs and driving in five en route to an 8-4 victory.

It’s the first three-homer game of Bo’s brief career in the big leagues.

Bichette entered the doubleheader on an absolute tear, hitting .444/.483/.889 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in his last seven games.

Jays starter Kevin Gausman picked up the win in game one, his 11th on the season, tossing 6 2/3 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out six batters. George Springer had three hits and an RBI.
Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. took Springer’s place in centre field in the second game and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Cavan Biggio added a solo home run, his sixth of the season.
Starter Jose Berrios went six innings, surrendering eight hits, two earned runs and struck out two batters in game two.

Heavy rain in Baltimore played a role in both games, especially in game two, when Berrios looked uncomfortable gripping the baseball as it began to pour.
Reliever Trevor Richards entered the game in place of Berrios and slipped after a pitch, resulting in the grounds crew working on the mound.

The two wins give Toronto some ground over the surging Orioles and keep the Blue Jays firmly in the mix for the top Wild Card spot in the American League.
Toronto (75-59) hands the ball to Mitch White on Tuesday. Kyle Bradish will counter for the Orioles (71-64).
The Tampa Bay Rays won again, beating the Boston Red Sox 4-3 on Monday.
Toronto will play nine games against the Rays in September and face Baltimore six more times down the stretch.
The Seattle Mariners entered Monday’s games ahead of the Rays and Blue Jays with the first Wild Card spot and a seven-game winning streak.
