The magic number for the Toronto Blue Jays to clinch a playoff spot is at three after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a walk-off single to give his team a big 3-2, extra-innings win against the New York Yankees.
Guerrero Jr. had two hits on the night, including the game-winner in the 10th inning that scored Cavan Biggio from second base.
Teoscar Hernandez had a two-run RBI double in the fourth inning that evened the game at 2-2.

Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out seven batters.
Toronto’s bullpen came up clutch at the Rogers Centre on Monday, as Adam Cimber, Yimi Garcia, Jordan Romano, Anthony Bass and Tim Mayza pitched a combined 3 2/3 shutout innings.

“Such a team effort tonight. For Vladdy to come through with two outs, it’s huge for him,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said post-game. “A tremendous job by our bullpen… We like that we had the top of our order coming up for us. The biggest decision was to [walk Judge], and it worked out.”
The win gives the Blue Jays a temporary three-game lead for the top spot in the American League Wild Card. The Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners, both clubs occupying the other two spots, were off on Monday.
All eyes were on Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who entered the game one home run shy of tying an American League record for most home runs in a single season. Roger Maris currently holds the record with 61 home runs set in 1961.
Judge finished Monday’s game 1-for-3 with two walks and two strikeouts.
Jose Berrios will take the mound for the Blue Jays on Tuesday against Yankees starter Jameson Taillon.
