Mitch Marner reaches 500 career point milestone vs. Red Wings

By Hayley McGoldrick

Mitch Marner recorded his 500th career point as he scored a power play goal against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

As the second-fastest player in team history to reach the milestone, the goal came off an assist from Auston Matthews who hit the 500-point mark for himself earlier this week.

Marner continues to make history as a Maple Leaf, as earlier in the year he had a streak of 23 games recording a point, which was the longest in the 105-year history of the Maple Leafs.

The 25-year-old became just the 12th player in NHL history with a points streak of 23 games, tallying 11 goals and 21 assists during the span.
