Additional 3 to 5 cm of snow on the way for Toronto and GTA

Winter weather travel advisories have been issued across the GTA with snowfall expected to move in overnight.

A low pressure system tracking northeast across southern Ontario will continue to bring light, steady snow to Toronto and the GTA today.

Environment Canada had issued a winter weather advisory, calling for an additional three to five centimetres of snow on top of what has already fallen across the region overnight.

Those advisories were ended just after 1:30 p.m.

A snowfall warning which had been issued for Caledon on Sunday calling for upwards of 10 cm of snow was cancelled around 12:30 p.m.

The snow is expected to taper off this afternoon and then temperatures will start to plunge as colder air out of the north settles into the region. Overnight tonight temperatures will fall to minus-9 Celsius with a wind chill making it feel closer to minus-12.

It will be a cold start to the week on Monday as temperatures continue to drop throughout the week with wind chills in the minus-20s to 30s.
