Toronto man arrested after police discover loaded gun in stolen car

Toronto police have arrested and charged a man with various offences after a stolen car investigation led to the discovery of firearms and cocaine.

Investigators say the man was taken into police custody on Friday, Feb. 3, in the Woodbine Downs Boulevard area in Rexdale after allegedly stealing a car.

Police located a loaded firearm, along with a high-capacity magazine and bullets. Responding officers later executed a search warrant at an address in the Torresdale Avenue area in North York.

A second unloaded firearm magazine was seized, including cocaine.

In total, police recovered a Glock firearm equipped with a laser pointer, an extended high-capacity magazine, a .40 cal. Glock magazine, a digital scale and 122 grams of suspected cocaine.

Shaquane Stewart, 23, of Toronto, is facing 13 charges in total, including carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a loaded restricted firearm. He appeared in court on Monday.
