Freezing rain, strong wind expected in GTA today; special weather statement in effect
The GTA is in store for a wet and windy day as spring-like conditions make way for some more active weather on Thursday.
Special weather statements remain in effect across the region, calling for strong winds and heavy rainfall throughout the day.
Environment Canada says the mix of windy wet weather will likely be an all-day event. Areas further away from the lake, including Halton Hills, Milton, and Caledon, can expect a brief period of freezing rain in the early morning.

“Rain will begin this morning. A brief period of freezing rain is possible this morning for areas inland from Lake Ontario,” reads the special weather statement.
Extra travel time required tomorrow in southern Ontario as a Texas low brings rain, strong winds, freezing rain and snow depending on your location. For #Toronto, mainly 15-25 mm of rain with gusty evening winds and a start time within an hour of 6am (morning commute). pic.twitter.com/x9LiwEYSsk
