The historic Toronto building that houses the steakhouse Harbour 60 will soon be transformed into a four-floor event space.
If you grew up in the city, you probably already know of the steakhouse located inside the Toronto Harbour Commission building, one of the city’s most notable historic structures.
Harbour 60 Toronto has been known for its elegance, lavish atmosphere and world-class cuisine.
According to PortsToronto, the Toronto Harbour Commission was established as a joint federal-municipal agency, essentially being responsible for the management of the Port of Toronto and the city’s waterfront.
The building first opened its doors in 1918 and became an important economic driver for Toronto and the surrounding region, playing a key role in promoting the port to international shippers and building trade relationships with other countries. Eighty-two years later, Harbour 60 was established.
World-renowned designer Ferris Rafauli — known mostly for his architectural designs, most notably for his work with Canadian rapper Drake’s Bridle Path home in Toronto — will be taking on the project to transform the space.
According to a promotional video released by Ferris Rafauli Design, “Toronto’s most iconic restaurant destination” will be “reimagined.” It points to a complete transformation of the space, revealing that the current one-level restaurant will soon be a four-floor “dining experience.”
The famous steakhouse has been a home base for many celebrities, pro athletes, world political leaders, as well as being a regular hot spot for the Toronto elite.
The video promises “exclusive VIP hideaway spaces” and a “private members lounge nightclub.”
It is unknown when the new space will be open to the public, although it is expected to be completed sometime in 2024.
