Teen boy seriously injured in stabbing near Brampton school

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing near a school in Brampton.

Peel police responded to the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Torbram Road just before 11:30 a.m. Monday for reports of a fight.

Paramedics said the teen was taken to a trauma centre in serious but stable condition. Police later said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The incident occurred in a parking lot next to Sandalwood Heights Secondary School.

Police said several vehicles were seen fleeing the area.

It is not yet known if the victim is a student at the school.

The school was briefly placed in a hold and secure as police investigated.
