Police issue PSA after sex offender released into Mississauga community

Peel Regional Police have issued a public safety advisory about a sex offender being released into the community, believing the man is at a high risk of re-offending.

Joseph Faulkner, 30, was released from prison last Sunday and lives in the Dundas Street West and Confederation Parkway area of Mississauga.

Police said Faulkner is subject to several conditions, including not being in the presence of children under 16. He’s also bound by two probation orders, with end dates of August 1, 2023, and April 16, 2025.

Investigators said they’d closely monitor Faulkner and released this update to inform the public.

“Members of the public are reminded that although Joseph Faulkner presents a safety risk to the public, he remains a Canadian citizen, and his rights are guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms,” a Peel police spokesperson noted in a news release.

Police advise the public to use caution if they encounter Faulkner, adding that parents should be mindful of their children’s activities and aware of the people they associate with.
