Teen boy killed in drive-by shooting at Pickering townhouse complex

A teenage boy is dead after a shooting at a townhouse in Pickering.

Officers were called to a housing complex in the area of Valley Farm and Kingston roads, between Liverpool and Brock roads, around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday.

A 17-year-old boy was located at the scene with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after despite paramedics performing life-saving measures.

Police believe the shots were fired from a vehicle that fled the area.

No other suspect information has been made available and investigators say the number of suspects involved is unknown.Police do not believe there is any further threat to public safety.

Investigators with Durham Regional Police are appealing for anyone with additional information about the incident to contact them. A command post will be set up in the area on Monday.

Roads were closed in the area for the investigation, but they have since reopened.
