If your commute involves taking Lake Shore Boulevard West, a large stretch of the roadway will be off-limits to drivers starting Wednesday for the Honda Indy.

Toronto police say Lake Shore from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Road will be closed at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12.

The southbound lanes of Strachan Avenue from Fleet Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West will also be closed as of noon on Wednesday.

The roadways are scheduled to reopen at 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 16.

“Due to the extensive road closures, motorists can expect significant delays in the area and are strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes,” police warn.

“Anyone attending the Honda Indy should take public transit, and both the TTC and GO Transit will provide increased service to Exhibition Place.”

Ahead of the full closure on Lake Shore West, several curb-lane restrictions are in effect along the boulevard until Wednesday.

The Honda Indy festivities kick off on Friday with the main race happening on Sunday.
