Expected to be the warmest day this week, the heat in Toronto on Tuesday has seen a 22-year-old heat record broken.
Tuesday’s temperature at Pearson reached 29 C at 1 p.m. The previous record at Toronto Pearson for Oct. 3 was 27.1 C set in 2001.
The record for Oct. 4 is 27.2 C, which was set in 1951, but Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler with an expected high near 24 C.

Monday in Toronto saw a high of 26 C and a humidex near 30, with a mix of sun and cloud, and the temperature dropped to just 16 C overnight, which is slightly cooler than the average daytime high for this time of year.
The above seasonal temperatures for the first week of October follow a warmer than usual weekend in the GTA. Sunday saw a high of 27 C in Toronto.
The Weather Network’s fall forecast predicted a “fickle fall” this year as the season is forecast to be chilly early on for most of Canada before above normal temperatures lead the country into winter.
