Man facing murder charge after woman found dead at Scarborough home

Toronto Police are investigating after a 42-year-old woman was found dead in her Scarborough home. As Erica Natividad reports, the man who is now in custody is the one who called police.

Police have identified a 42-year-old woman and laid a murder charge against a 43-year-old man after an incident at a home in Scarborough early Thursday.

Toronto police Insp. Jeff Bangild said officers were called to a townhouse complex near Scarborough Golf Club Road and Kingston Road around 4 a.m., after receiving a call from a man who said he “caused harm to another individual, a resident of this building.”

When police arrived, they found the man who identified himself as the caller outside a unit.

“He didn’t appear in a state of medical crisis,” Bangild said.

Officers located a woman with critical injuries inside the unit who was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 42-year-old Julia MacIsaac of Toronto.

Police have charged 43-year-old David Slinger of Toronto with first degree murder.

Bangild said the victim and the suspect knew each other but their exact relationship has not been disclosed.

“It’s still to be determined as to what transpired inside this residence, it’s an isolated incident … we don’t know what weapons, if any, were used. Ultimately the force that was inflicted upon her was enough to cause her injuries,” Bangild said.
