Elderly woman dead following a collision in Vaughan, police say

York Regional Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed an 85-year-old woman Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive West and Dufferin Street in Vaughan around 1:30 p.m. following a crash involving an SUV and a sedan.

Police say the woman, from Richmond Hill, was a passenger in the sedan. She was rushed to hospital without vital signs, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

Footage from the scene shows two vehicles sprawled across the intersection with serious damage.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
