Power has been restored to 1,000 customers in the city’s Financial District after an afternoon outage caused by a squirrel

The outage area stretched from Spadina Avenue, east to Yonge Street, and south to Front Street.

Hydro One said the outage was caused by a squirrel making contact with a transformer that caused a breaker to fail

“John Transmission Station has a number of barriers to keep animals safe and out of the station. We will look at additional measures to put in place to prevent future incidents of this nature,” read their statement.

Power was restored just after 5 p.m., according to Toronto Hydro.
