Boy, 15, injured in North York shooting

Toronto police are investigating after a 15-year-old male showed up to a hospital with injuries from a shooting in North York.

Officers say they were called to reports of a shooting in the area of Cherokee Boulevard and Shawnee Circle just before 10 p.m. The victim took himself to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson told CityNews that officers found evidence of gunfire at a residence in the area, but couldn’t confirm if that is the precise location where the male victim sustained his injuries.

“It does appear that these two incidents are related,” police said.

Toronto police do not believe the shooting occurred at Cherokee Public School or near the school.

Police also told 680 NewsRadio that it appears the victim was in a vehicle at the time of the shooting. Authorities do not have any suspect information at this time.
