Horse killed in crash after seven escape from East Gwillimbury paddock

A horse was killed in a collision with a car in East Gwillimbury early on Tuesday morning.
The horse was one of seven that had escaped from a paddock belonging to the Royal Canadian Riding Academy.
The collision happened on Davis Road between McCowan and Kennedy roads shortly after 2 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
York police warned drivers to be careful in the area while they worked to round up the horses. The horses were back in their paddock by 7:45 a.m.
