Brampton Animal Services and the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) are investigating after a dog was found beaten to death in a park last month.
On May 10, officials from both departments were called to Spruce Park on Heart Lake Road, near Sandalwood Parkway, to investigate a report of a dead dog.
Animal Services and an OSPCA Officer found the male Cane Corso near a parking area in the park. The dog was around five years old and had dark brown brindle fur.
On Thursday, the City of Brampton said an autopsy revealed the cause of death was “blunt force trauma.”
Investigators say the dog had been dead for 24 hours before being found.
Anyone with information on the dog’s death is being asked to call 310-SPCA.
