If you’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the one’s you used to know – your dreams are coming true this year!

Environment Canada is predicting what it calls a “perfect Christmas” for the GTA, at least weather-wise – with upwards of 10 cm of snow is expected to accumulate by Christmas day.

A special weather statement says a developing low pressure system will track south of the Great Lakes Sunday night, bringing another round of snowfall for much of southern Ontario. Toronto and the GTA are under a snowfall watch and snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon with the bulk of snowfall coming at night. By the time it ends early Monday morning, as much as 15-20 cm of new snow could be on the ground.

According to the The Weather Network, Toronto will be the snowiest city in the world for a brief period on Christmas Eve with the expected accumulation.

But that will be dwarfed by a town in northern Russia the next day.

Poronaysk, with a population of just 16,000, is expected to be blanketed by 50 cm of snow on Christmas Day.
