“The eye was protruding out of his skull and there was blood coming down the side of his face. He was just a wreck.”
That’s how dog-owner Tom described the state of Mo, his four-year-old Pomeranian, after he was viciously attacked by a boxer during a walk near Danforth and Main Streets earlier this week.
Mo, who was born deaf, ended up surviving, but lost his left eye.
The vet bill came to over $2100.
Susan Latendresse was walking Mo when it happened. She says the boxer, which was off-leash, suddenly lunged at her dog.
“It just come out from nowhere, I didn’t even see it coming until it was too late,” she said. “This dog was all over him.”
Latendresse says the boxer is staying with a dog-sitter in her apartment building in the neighbourhood.
“They offered me no apology, no sympathies, no nothing,” she said.
Mo’s owners have filed a report with Animal Services but an investigation hasn’t been launched yet.
The dog’s owners are now seeking compensation
“I’d really like to see accountability,” Tom said. “It’s just not right.”
Mo’s owners are hoping Animal Services will get in touch with them in the coming days and they say they are considering a civil lawsuit.
