Sinclair leads Canada past Brazil in friendly

FOXBORO, Mass. — Christine Sinclair scored both goals for Canada in a 2-1 victory over Brazil in a women’s soccer friendly Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
Sinclair opened the scoring in the 12th minute when she converted a pass from defender Candace Chapman.
The veteran from Burnaby, B.C., padded Canada’s lead in the 78th when she scored from the top of the box with a left-footer that found the bottom right corner of the net.
Brazil made it a one-goal game by converting a penalty kick late in regulation time. Carmelina Moscato brought down Erika Santos in the box and Marta made good on the penalty.
Sinclair has 13 goals on the year and 133 for her career.
It was goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc’s 100th cap for Canada.
Brazilian goalkeeper Andreia took a blow to the head late in the first half. She was taken off the field on a stretcher with a brace supporting her head.
She was replaced by Barbara.
