Mississauga man missing after boating accident in Peterborough

One man is dead and another is missing after a boat crash on Stoney Lake north of Peterborough.

Provincial police say two boats collided on the lake just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Five of the six people who were aboard the vessels were taken to shore with the help of witnesses. A 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while the remaining four others were taken to an area hospital with injuries ranging from non-life threatening to serious.

OPP marine units and a helicopter searched for the sixth person, a 31-year-old man from Mississauga, but were unable to locate him.

Police say they will be joined by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit as the search for the missing man continues today.

Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
