Student Charged After Confrontation With Police Officer At School

A student at Northern Secondary is facing charges after an incident involving school police officer.

It’s the first such offense to occur since cops began patrolling Toronto campuses one year ago as part of the Safe Schools initiative.

The alleged incident was caught on video by another student and posted on YouTube on October 2.

On the tape, the student can be heard saying, “You have to let me know what I’ve done.”

The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified, was charged with assault with intent to resist arrest.

Both Toronto Police and the Toronto District School Board have praised the officer in question for showing restraint.
