Four Men, Young Offender Wanted In Kidnapping And Extortion Case

Police have released the names of four men and a young offender they say were involved in the kidnapping of three people last week.

The first victim was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint from the Martin Grove Road and Rexdale Boulevard area on November 11th. He managed to escape.

But sometime before midnight, two more people were reportedly kidnapped from the same area. One managed to escape from a vehicle near the 401 and Mavis Road in Mississauga. Officers say the suspects held the other in an apartment overnight and made demands for cash and drugs before releasing the victim.

Detectives have already arrested two men – 22-year-old Dustin Brandejs and 26-year-old Amrinder Chhokar – and charged them with a long list of offences including forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, extortion, and threatening death.

But on Friday police issued warrants for five more people, all believed to be in the Toronto area. They are:

  • Mark Anthony Barreiras, 29
  • Shawn Jermaine Tyrell, 24
  • Bryan Robson Taylor, 23
  • Patrick Anthony Anderson, 22

“We are very concerned about these individuals being on the loose, on the street with firearms given the fact we’re aware of what crimes have been perpetrated,” Supt. Ron Taverner said at a press conference.

Authorities received special court permission to release the name of an underage suspect. All five are considered armed and dangerous and police are warning the public not to approach them.
