Talking About Animated Vikings and 3-D Dragons

How to Train Your Dragon is the latest 3-D animated film to hit theatres and, unlike a lot of the recent 3-D offerings, it has both a great story and uses the visual gimmick to its full potential. The movie follows young outcast viking Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) as he attempts to hunt a dragon to prove to his father (voiced by Gerard Butler) that he is a man. After he’s faced with killing one however, he changes his mind and soon finds himself training it. It’s entertaining from beginning to end, and has enough mature scenes and jokes to please older kids (and adults) while still appealing to a younger crowd.

CityNews.ca spoke with How to Train Your Dragon directors Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, who last directed Disney’s Lilo & Stitch together, about the process of working in a 3-D environment, how they got involved with the production, and what they predict to be the next big thing for movie-goers. Watch the full interview below.

How to Train Your Dragon is in theatres March 26. More info on the film can be found at howtotrainyourdragon.com.
