Three Arrests In Connection With Andrew Dowden’s Murder

A judicial authorization allowing police to reveal the names and images of two underage suspects resulted in quick arrests days after 17-year-old Andrew Dowden was found murdered in the Humber River.
Police received permission Wednesday to release the names and photographs of two suspects, ages 17 and 15. Shortly after, officers arrested one suspect at home and the second turned himself into police.
Both are charged with first-degree murder and are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
A third suspect, also 17, was also arrested early Wednesday morning. He’s also charged with first-degree murder.
Dowden’s body was found in the Humber River, between Finch and Rexdale Boulevard, just after 7:30pm Fri. July 30. He’d been shot to death.
Dowden disappeared days before his murder. He was last seen July 26 and his family reported him missing three days later.
The young victim split his time between two family homes, one in Toronto and the other in Peel. Police believe he was on his way from one home to the other when he was fatally shot.
